Born and raised in Singapore, I embarked on a career in IT upon graduating from the university with a BSc (Mathematics) degree. After 28 years, feeling a need for a change, I gave up my stable job to study art full-time in England. My graduation exhibition took place in June 2006, after completing a three-year course in Sculpture and Visual Arts at Emerson College in Sussex.
I took another path less travelled two months after the exhibition, to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia as a VSO volunteer. A solo exhibition of my oil paintings was held there to raise funds for a children's centre in 2007. Two more painting exhibitions followed, 'Faces' in Penang and 'Art in Miniature' in Singapore.
Since making South Wales my home in 2015, painting and needlework take up much of my time. I was thankful to the Arts for Health and Wellbeing team at the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board for hosting my first exhibition in Wales at the Llandough Hospital. It gave me the opportunity to share my artworks with people in a healthcare setting.
